MY APPROACH

Hi. I’m Josh. And I’m so glad you’re here. 

 

Therapy and the path of self-awareness can be daunting. I used to not believe in therapy myself until, in 2018,  I underwent a profoundly transformative experience that nearly cost me my life. Since then, my path has been marked by an expansive exploration of self, a commitment to authenticity, and a sincere desire to guide others along a similar path of discovery.  

 

Therapy with me ranges from traditional talk therapy (couches, chairs, pillows, etc) to the utilization of somatic experience and expression (breathwork, boxing, hiking, etc) which can wield remarkable benefits in the process of integration and healing. My background as a boxing coach, personal trainer, and certified breathwork facilitator provides multiple modalities through which we can explore the mind-body connection. Sometimes words aren't enough, and by transcending the thinking mind, we reconnect with our bodies, and therefore the present moment. After all, after the enlightenment, comes the laundry. 

 

The main purpose of therapy is to address underlining issues that can get us stuck and prevent us from widening our perspectives to a more enjoyable, satisfying and purposeful life. These maladaptive thinking patterns and  behaviors often stem from underlying issues such as depression, anxiety, lack of focus, trauma, and existential dread. By addressing them, doors that once seemed inaccessible swing open, ushering in newfound compassion, tranquility, and resilience. 

 

The cornerstone of my approach is a cultivation of empathy and trust within our therapeutic alliance. Within that, I employ modalities of attachment theory, DBT/CBT, narrative therapy, existentialism, humanistic approaches, internal family systems, and polyvagal theory. Healing cannot happen if there ins’t trust in the relationship so that becomes paramount.  Whether you're grappling with familial (difficult parents or kids) or relational struggles, navigating significant life transitions, battling addictive thoughts and behaviors, or confronting any other formidable challenge, I am here to provide unwavering support. It would be my privilege to accompany you on this transformative journey toward self-discovery, healing and stepping into your authentic self.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

An in depth exploration of relationships, career, identity, depression, anxiety, trauma, chemical and behavioral addiction. The purpose of therapy is to gain clarity of who we are, how we are and why we are. Our work will help to pull back the curtain that mystifies, confuses and frustrates you. Together we will create tools and skills to build a life worth living.

BOXING THERAPY

When words aren't enough. Grab the gloves and let's work through some intense feelings. This unique option consists of boxing/fitness training with therapeutic exploration laced throughout the session. Our bodies hold on to more than we realize. Through movement, we're able to process big emotions in a safe manner that leads to profound results.

COUPLES COUNSELING

We often struggle with the one's we love the most and it's usually due to unclear communication and misaligned wants/desires/boundaries. Together we will improve communication, intimacy, vulnerability and explore family dynamics.

FAMILY THERAPY

We can't choose our families but we can choose to fight for them. Family dynamics is one of the most powerful areas of our identity and this work allows us to gain better insight of who we came from to understand how we are the way we are.

LIFE COACHING

The difference between coaching and therapy can be subtle, however coaching resides more in the world of behavioral change and adjustment. Our work here lays more in solution and actualizing desired life changes.

BREATHWORK

Going into the depths of our being can begin with seizing control of the tiniest of elements. Breathwork serves as an integrative discipline that unites our instinctual breathing with purposeful, conscious breath manipulation. This fusion enables us to establish a profound connection with the innermost layers of our selves, facilitating the emergence of valuable insights, boundless compassion, and self-love.
